Crises are experienced with commitment, courage and bravery. And if it is also intended -in this framework- to contribute innovative concepts, to the cocktail it will be essential to add a share of creativity. And that was what MOTIVAR did during this year, transforming its 16th Anniversary into what was the Argentine Veterinary Industry Summit “CIVA MOTIVAR 2018”, in which more than 320 people participated, representing some 120 companies and / or institutions linked to the Animal Health and Productivity sector in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay.
Having fulfilled this first objective of bringing together the main decision-makers of the local business, the highest authorities that regulate them and their suppliers, there was still one of the main challenges to be faced: the resounding change of scenario and format.
Is that after 15 years holding this traditional meeting for the industry, MOTIVAR decided to move the initiative to room 11 of a North Showcase cinema (Vicente López, Buenos Aires) that opened its doors at an atypical schedule for an unusual screening. It was on October 25, at 7:30 am, when the 350 seats were almost filled in minutes to witness “A film industry”, in what was the Veterinary Industry Summit “CIVA MOTIVAR 2018” (See attached note ).
It was interesting to witness the debate among attendees from different parts of the country about the change in format.
“We preferred the traditional round tables to be able to converse with the other attendees” or “It was very good because I was able to concentrate on the topics that I really wanted to hear”. That’s how varied was the repertoire of opinions about an event full of good energy that will undoubtedly not go unnoticed in the 2018 agenda. Above all, if we consider the agenda developed to complement the proposal.
Rank the sector
One of the main objectives pursued by this Summit is to match its attendees in the vision for the future that is proposed to them. How is this? Of course, for years, this traditional meeting seeks to show opinions and trends that, although at the time may seem distant, sooner or later end up manifesting themselves within the industry and its marketing channels.
In this framework, the opening of “CIVA MOTIVAR 2018” was in charge of the president of Senasa, Ricardo Negri, who addressed the current situation of an organization that seeks to modernize and streamline its bureaucracy in favor of greater efficiency in its operation (See pages 12 and 14).
Las crisis se atraviesan con compromiso, coraje y valentía. Y si además se pretende -en ese marco- aportar conceptos innovadores, al cocktail será indispensable sumarle una cuota parte de creatividad.

In turn, and in the quest to begin to identify the profile of future clients for veterinary services and products, Luciano Aba and Facundo Sonatti interviewed Roberto Guercetti, CEO of Grupo Conecar, on behalf of MOTIVAR; and Damián “Pipa” Nogaró, director of Puppis, respectively (See pages 18 and 19).
The closing of the two hours and twenty minutes of content that complemented a similar period of time for interpersonal interaction of the attendees, was reserved for a panel that highlighted the current and future role of exports for veterinary laboratories.
With the presence of Minister Fernando Lerena, National Director of the current National Directorate for the Promotion of Trade and Investments; and Jorge Dale, president of the Chamber of Argentine Veterinary Medicinal Laboratories (Clamevet), shared central information on the subject (See pages 16 and 17).

A matter of decision
Women had a prominent place throughout the event with a panel moderated by the Channel 13 journalist, María Laura Santillán, in which Mónica Bressi, president of the Argentine Chamber of the Veterinary Products Industry (Caprove) and Micaela Bacher participated. , director of Endeavor Argentina.
In 2007, out of the more than 150 attendees to what was MOTIVAR’s 5th Anniversary, the presence of women could literally be counted on the fingers of one hand. However, in the last 11 years the evolution of “them” in leadership roles within the industry crystallized in this last meeting, where out of more than 350 registered, more than 100 were women.
In this sense, the panel “Women in the current company” sought to put on the table the obstacles that must be overcome, which ones have been left behind and what they contribute to the industry.
Mónica Bressi, commercial director of Biogenesis Bagó, said that, first of all, everything is about making decisions. “If I have to talk about obstacles throughout my career, I will divide it into two parts: on the one hand, the professional, because I am not a veterinarian and it cost me twice as much when I went out to sell to veterinarians. Not knowing about pharmacology and physiology, interpreting the behavior of the product in the animal was very difficult for me and I had to make a lot of effort, “he said.
And he completed: “Internal and personal issues when you are a mother, you decide between whether you dedicate your time fully to professional life or are looking for another job option to dedicate yourself more to your family. It is a matter of decision for all women who are mothers. In my case, it was worth it, I love it, but it is not an easy task ”.
For Micaela Bacher, in the 20 years that Endeavor has been in the country, the presence of women at the forefront of businesses from the new generations of entrepreneurs is much greater.
“Although we would like them to be more, it is true that many companies founded by men have women in their directives. And they are no longer in traditionally feminine areas such as human resources or communication, but also in tougher positions, such as finance, “he said.
“You have surely heard of the famous glass ceiling, where women have reached a ceiling and can no longer pass through it. Men have interacted with each other for centuries in leadership positions ”, highlighted María Laura Santillán, to which Bressi affirmed:“ The thinking of women and leadership is different from that of men. The woman is focused on the person, the closeness and the containment. It is easier for women to create work teams because that mother always comes out and they feel more content. In general terms, women have the ability to think and decide on several issues at the same time ”.
For Bacher, what they see in Endeavor is that the new generation is much riskier, undertakes more, and the presence of women is increasingly common. However, of the 1,700 companies with which Endeavor works, in the health and agriculture sectors, only 13% of the businesses are founded by women, unlike other sectors, such as retail or mass consumption, which amounts to 25%. “In conclusion everything goes through the decision. The spaces, roles and capacities are there, it happens to take charge and take those risks “, assured Bressi and completed:” Today, in the faculties of veterinary sciences, six out of 10 received are women and in the entire industry, there are around 20 women in very important roles ”.
MEMBERS OF A CHAIN THAT ADDED VALUE FOR YEARS
An amazing sector
During the “CIVA MOTIVAR 2018” Veterinary Industry Summit, the screen in Room 11 of the North Showcase showed in a short film the different links that make up the production chain of a veterinary drug, graphed with the work of a group of suppliers of this industry, which were (due to their economic contribution) key piece in the realization of the event: raw materials (Romikin); laboratory materials (Sartorius), stability equipment (COPREVA), outsourcing services (LabCecil), plastic containers (Laboratorios Plásticos), laboratory chamber (Caprove), traceability (GS1 Argentina), logistics and storage (Vrayto) and services of Health (Obra Social Luis Pasteur).
Each of them, together with Industrial Print & Labels and Ferretti Validaciones, were able to show how they invest, create jobs and add value to the veterinary pharmaceutical and biologicals industry.
