The 2019 edition of the Argentine Veterinary Industry Summit organized by MOTIVAR was a success. Held on November 14 in Parque Norte (CABA), the so-called “CIVA – Vrayto” received more than 400 referents from the veterinary sector.
Undoubtedly, a space for updating and networking was consolidated, where representatives of national and multinational laboratories; large, medium and small, can interact not only with each other but also with distributors from all over the country, opinion leaders, scientists and official authorities, among others.
The day began in the morning and with the entry of the first attendees, a feeling that would be consolidated during the day was perceived: seeing each other, having a coffee and talking are crucial actions in the dynamics of the sector. “It is a pride to be able to be today celebrating 17 years as a journalistic medium specialized in the sector,” said Luciano Aba, editor of MOTIVAR and host of the meeting. And he continued: “Generating this area requires a great effort, which we carry out with the same passion and enthusiasm as during our first day of work.”

New Regulatory Framework of Senasa
One of the high points of the 2019 Argentine Veterinary Industry Summit was precisely its opening panel, where Dr. Federico Luna, head of the Directorate of Veterinary Products of Senasa, presented the new Regulatory Framework that will govern from now on and that It was signed in early December by Ricardo Negri, president of the national health agency.
“The new Regulatory Framework incorporates innovative aspects for the registration of veterinary products not only in Argentina, but also in the region,” said Luna. And he completed: “We add the concept of Innovative, Generic and New to the registry, which will allow working on a new resolution to advance with approvals for bioequivalences.”
Federico Luna highlighted the internalization of the norms that are generated in the Regional Forum for Harmonization, CAMEVET. “We had already started to incorporate the certificate of registrations and Free sales. Now we add registration forms for pharmacological and biological products; stability studies of veterinary pharmaceutical products; labeling and the glossary of terms, ”he explained.
Another innovative topic? To the four marketing categories enabled for veterinary products, there is now added that of Free Sale, for example, in the case of cosmetics.

FEDERICO LUNA. PRESENTED THE NEW REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR VETERINARY PRODUCTS.
Likewise, a strategy for the presentation of “Major and Minor Changes” is proposed in order to specify the requirements for the most frequent modifications that need to be made in a registration dossier of an approved veterinary product.
“When we talk about regulatory simplification and debureaucratization, we cannot omit that this Resolution 2019 – 1642 consolidates 13 regulations into one. In addition, the National Directorate of Animal Health is empowered to issue complementary regulations. We guarantee to have an agile mechanism to be able to update the norm ”, completed the official.
During CIVA Vrayto 2019, it was learned that the new framework establishes shared responsibilities for each link in the chain, from production to veterinary, through distribution and marketing. “Even the laboratories that provide manufacturing services for third parties will be jointly responsible for potential deviations from their clients,” said Luna. And he concluded his presentation by greeting all the members of the Department of Veterinary Products of Senasa present: “We met the objective of the year, working as a team and together with the chambers of the sector.”
Consensus
It is worth saying that, for the final elaboration of the new Regulatory Framework, Senasa generated more than 10 meetings with the two chambers of veterinary laboratories in Argentina: Caprove and Clamevet. “It has been an ambitious initiative by Senasa, which was finally successful,” said Jorge Dale, president of the Chamber of Argentine Veterinary Medicinal Laboratories (Clamevet). And he added: “The biggest novelty is the incorporation of the registration category for New products. By creating this category, we will be able to achieve a more fluid mechanism in the registry”.
Finally, Caprove’s technical director, Patricia Millares, explained that the approval of this new Framework was one of the most important tasks faced by the Chamber in 2019 and highlighted the work of its different committees in search of streamlining the review and proposal process. . “This is one of the reasons why it is so important for laboratories to be part of an entity like Caprove,” explained Millares. And he concluded: “One of our objectives is to streamline the mechanisms for the registration of veterinary products and this new Regulatory Framework goes in that direction.”

Trends in the global market
This edition of CIVA – Vrayto culminated with a conference by the editor of MOTIVAR, Luciano Aba, who described the latest trends in the world of the veterinary industry. Although in the next edition of January, we will publish an exclusive article on this topic, it is worth highlighting the words of the speaker about the current “Trending Topics” in the global industry.
“In a global market that already in 2018 had exceeded US $ 34,000 million, laboratories are beginning to show actions that bring them closer not only to the welfare of animals, but also of people and the environment,” he explained to an audience with more than 400 references in the sector. In addition, he highlighted the concept of prudent use of antibiotics and antiparasitics as a before and after in the management of the uses and customs of field veterinarians and highlighted the importance of considering the change of profile in consumers, both veterinarians and users. end of products.
Referring to animal production, the also partner in the Association of Ideas and editor of the 2 + 2 Magazine explained that, globally, the sector is working on new vaccines for food safety (salmonella, for example), and on the search for drugs and biologics “tailored” in Latin America. “Global animal health companies are beginning to turn towards a greater use of technologies, investing in Diagnostics and Alerts that allow the application of many of the products that already exist today but are not used properly,” said Luciano Aba.
Beyond this, the journalist stopped for a few minutes in the Pets segment, making it clear that the humanization process is irreversible. “Animals have extended their life expectancy and this will allow the industry and the profession to offer other types of solutions, many of which will have to focus on supplies that tend towards the natural, with a focus on new owners of dogs and cats that will start to express more and more needs in terms of obesity, diabetes, hypersensitivity, heart and kidney problems, (specific) oncology”, assured the editor of MOTIVAR before the CIVA – Vrayto 2019 attendees.
And he concluded: “The greater life expectancy in dogs and the explosive growth of the category destined for cats will be the engines of growth for the industry in the short and medium term.”
A dream event
Next to go to the lunch with which the Summit of the Argentine Veterinary Industry 2019 was concluded and with the entire Association of Ideas team on stage, the organizers shared their latest concepts in front of the more than 400 present: “With our strengths and weaknesses we will continue to seek to improve the services we offer. We know that they will continue to accompany us and that is why we are already preparing for what is coming in 2020 ”.

And he advanced: “SANI has been redesigned, counting today not only with an updated list of veterinary products and laboratories, but also the incorporation of a list of distributors and veterinary diagnostic laboratories. In 2020 we will include the possibility of carrying out individual product transfers or promotions between veterinarians and the professional commercial chain.
